Course Overview


FY2023 Current Trends in Bioinformatics is an elective course for Yokohama City University Credited Graduate Students (大学院生 単位希希). The course is organized by Bioinformatics Laboratory as a part of our Educational Program.

Any given lecture can also be attended by other YCU Members, Collaborative Research Network Members and by External Participants as a free seminar. Advanced registration is required.

Course Description (講義概要)

The course will introduce modern Bioinformatics/AI approaches to analyzing Life Science Big Data. Each lecture (~1hr presentation + 15-30 min discussion) will be given by an Academic / Industry expert. Graduate Students taking this course for credit are encouraged to actively participate in the course by asking questions during discussion.

Learning Objectives (学習到達目標 )

After taking this course, participants should understand: (i) state-of-the-art Bioinformatics and AI methods and how they are currently being used to make biological & medical discoveries, (ii) challenges researchers face when analyzing and disseminating life science big data, but also (iii) opportunities for Bioinformatics and AI researchers to become a leader in their respective field. Post-lecture discussion aims to help students learn to ask questions (Japanese/English OK) and to interact with Japanese & International research experts.
