Abstract | セミナー概要

Healthcare diagnostics is a complex and collaborative field which forms the cornerstone of modern medicine. Accurate diagnosis not only explains a patient’s health problem, but also guides subsequent healthcare decisions and treatment. The evolution of diagnostic methods and, particularly, the integration of bioinformatics have transformed healthcare diagnostics. While diagnostic errors still remain a challenge, the future holds promise with AI-driven diagnostics and precision medicine. In this lecture, I will show how computational methods are reshaping healthcare diagnostics by leading to more precise and effective patient care and bringing personalized medicine closer to reality. I will also talk about my research experience in the biotech industry. Specifically, I will focus on how microRNAs can serve as non-invasive cancer biomarkers and form the basis of products used to assess patients’ risk to specific types of cancer. In summary, this lecture will show that the collaboration between healthcare professionals, biologists and bioinformaticians is vital for innovation of healthcare practices, which largely benefits from integrating computational methods and tools.
